privacy, in plain english

what we collect, and why

• your account — your name and the email address or phone number you sign up with. so you can log in and we can reach you about your account.
• your birth details — date, time, and place of birth. this is the whole product: it's the only way to calculate your real chart. nothing about it is used for anything except your chart and the readings written from it.
• details you enter for a match — a partner's name and birth details, used only to calculate that compatibility reading for you.
• your settings and readings — your chosen voice, your saved readings, your gratitude lines. so the site remembers your experience.
• payment — handled entirely by Stripe. your card number never touches our servers and we never see it. we keep only a record that your account is paid.
• usage analytics — which features get used (which tabs open, which buttons get tapped), so we can improve the product. this is behavioural, not content — and it's never sold.

where it lives

your data is stored in an encrypted database hosted by Supabase (servers in the United States) and the site is served by Netlify. to write your readings, your chart details are processed by Anthropic's Claude — under commercial terms that do not use your data to train AI models. payments run through Stripe, and product analytics through PostHog. these five are our only processors, and each one holds only what its job requires.

who can see it

you. that's the list. we don't sell personal data, we don't share it with advertisers, and no other company gets it except the processors above doing their jobs.

how long we keep it

while your account is active. ask us to delete your account and we erase your personal data — account, birth details, readings — within 30 days.

your rights

you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted — any time, no reason needed. email nik@thinknik.ca from your account email (or include your account phone number) and we'll act within 30 days.

emails and texts

we only send marketing messages if you've opted in, and every one carries an unsubscribe. account messages (receipts, important notices) are separate from marketing.

cookies

we use only what the site needs to work: a session so you stay signed in, and first-party analytics (served from our own domain). no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.

age

astrolife is for adults — you must be 18 or older to create an account.

if something goes wrong

if a breach ever puts your personal data at real risk, we'll notify you and the relevant privacy authorities as required by law.

the formal bits

astrolife is operated from Ontario, Canada and follows PIPEDA (Canada's federal privacy law) and, for Quebec residents, Law 25. the person responsible for the protection of personal information (privacy officer) is astrolife — nik@thinknik.ca. note for Quebec residents: your data is stored outside Quebec, as described above.

this policy may be updated as the product grows; the date below always tells you the current version. material changes get announced on the site.
